Old Age - help elders to live a better life

Old age is an inevitable phase of our life cycle, and we are of the opinion that it should be lived gracefully rather than grudgingly. In our world today, we only start noticing signs of old age much after the gradual process is well underway. Our centre is a platform that initiates a better understanding of the problems and responsibilities associated with ageing from a social angle and provides a platform for the aged and those concerned to come together to share and care.

Although our rights do not change as we grow older, older persons always face negative challenges and age discrimination, especially in access to employment, health care, goods and services, information and education. Older persons also face increasing setbacks to their participation, become more dependent on others and lose some or all of their personal rights. These threats to their autonomy and dignity can make them more susceptible to neglect, abuse and violation of their rights.

Some of Our Core Advocacy Includes:

  • Rights and Privileges of Older Persons
  • Dignity of Older Persons
  • Prevention of Older Persons Abuse
  • Community Centers for Older Persons
  • Skill Transfer by Older Persons
  • Social Security and Social Protection
  • Healthy Living for Older Persons
  • Housing discounts for Older Persons
  • Geriatric & Long term care for Older Persons

Welfare & Development Programs: Our welfare and development programs are targeted at the vulnerable and destitute elders in our society. We want to help them to live a better life, to have a sense of belonging in society and to give them a healthy lifestyle that will help them stay strong and live longer. It helps elders become self-reliant and independent through interaction between our experts and the vulnerable elders in the society; we will organize and conduct cataract surgeries to help treat and restore their sight, cater for their basic needs, runs Elder Helplines across the country, provides relief and rehabilitation centers for elders post disasters and provides Active Ageing opportunities and ensure caring for elderly.

Rights and Entitlement Programs: Our goal here is to protect older people’s rights. A lot of people are facing so many human rights abuse and violations. We promote the right of older persons in our society and also combat discrimination based on sex, religion or belief, race of ethnic origin, age or sexual orientation. We strive to set out a whole range of civil, political, economic and social rights relevant for older persons, such as the rights to non-discrimination, social security, health care and education.

Age-Friendly Environments And Accessibility: According to the WHO, the social and physical environments are key determinants of how to find out if people can remain independent, healthy, and autonomous deep into their old age. One effective method for responding to demographic ageing and increasing the Healthy Life Year indicator is promoting age-friendly environments to empower older people to age in better mental and physical health, to help promote their social inclusion and active participation and help them maintain their autonomy and good quality life in their old age. We enable older persons to remain at work for longer, reduce the pressure on traditional care and assistance and improve the economy through demand for innovative solutions.
